It has been a long time since I’ve seen an audience as captivated as Elena’s. By the flow and clarity of her presentation, you would think she has been speaking about the themes within Coextinction over a 20-year career, which only reveals how driven she is to stand for the oceans. She reaches past our eyes and ears, and directly connects our hearts to the Southern Resident Orcas. If you participate in the Orcas & Oceans conversation, you’ll walk away with a new dose of inspiration and hope for this planet.

[Gloria] beautifully captured the lives of the Southern Resident Killer Whales through a captivating story that's informative, humanizing, and relatable to the times. The lack of salmon for the whales to eat is the reason why they are dying, and humanity is the cause of it. Gloria has put the potential back in the hands of the people, and by the end of the talk, all you want to do is join the fight. Truly I can't wait to see the documentary.

Of all the workshops and speeches at the conference I attended this past weekend, Elena's workshop was by far the most impactful. By providing us with actionable steps to take the initiative to pursue what invigorated us, Elena was able to spark innovation in the delegates and facilitate some incredible ideas and new relationships as a result.
