JOIN THE JOURNEY TO SAVE AN EXTRAORDINARY
Impending extinction comes to a tipping point for one of the world's most iconic species and ecosystems, revealing the true nature of our interconnectedness. This crisis in the Pacific Northwest sparks an epic and enlightening journey for two young women, as they seek to understand how we can unite to save it all before it's too late.
If we can save the orca,
we can save the coast, and ourselves.
SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE, NOW
We met on Saturna Island, British Columbia. We'd both travelled across the continent to learn about killer whales, the ocean's apex predator. But it wasn't long before we were met by a dark reality: life is rapidly disappearing from this coast.
Today, the world's most iconic orcas, the Southern Residents — known from Free Willy and Blackfish — are on the brink of extinction. And together we decided to find out why.
WHAT WE DISCOVERED...
This story is about so much more than endangered orcas. It's about the collapse of fisheries, loss of cultures, a warming ocean and an entire ecosystem failure — it's about coextinction.
Our mission is to ignite a movement, drive action on key solutions, and ultimately inform a deeper understanding of the truth of our "coexistence".
Join this journey and a community of inspiring humans protecting what they love.
All life is interconnected
"We Are The Orca" means that it's not just the Southern Residents we are losing, it's an entire ecosystem and ourselves. It means that it's our responsibility to come together and create change.
